Part-Time Bilingual (Spanish) Clinical Therapist

Are you fluent in Spanish and hold a master’s degree in social work, Psychology, or Counseling? Have you earned your Associate or are licensed with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS)? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our dynamic team as a Part-Time Bilingual (Spanish) Clinical Therapist for our Wraparound Services Program.
As a Part-Time Bilingual Clinical Therapist for our Wraparound program, you will deliver culturally responsive services and lead a collaborative planning process for youth and families who are referred to through Child Welfare, Juvenile Probation, or County Behavioral Health departments.
Services will be provided exclusively in the community: in families’ homes, foster homes, schools, other community locations, etc. for youth who could require being placed in out of home care or are stepping down from a higher level of care.
The primary role is to ensure a sustainable network of unpaid supports (i.e., extended family, mentors, teachers, coaches) are working together toward stability for the youth and family.
The Program
Contra Costa Youth Service Bureau offers “Wraparound” services to children and youth susceptible to placement, and to their families. The Wraparound programs are strengths-based, family-driven, flexible, and creative, with the goal of helping the family develop the skills and supports to prevent or reduce the possibility of out-of-home placement of their child. A family-based team addresses the needs of the entire family, not just the child of focus. This family-based team consists of family members, Contra Costa Youth Service Bureau’s Therapists, Support Counselors, Family Partners, Facilitators, and other community members who have an important role in the family.
This role requires a clinician who is skilled in trauma-informed care and can provide support in addressing complex emotional needs. The candidate will also be responsible for learning and adhering to EPSDT (Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic, and Treatment) billing requirements and managing daily billing tasks.
- Develop and implement treatment plans tailored to each client’s specific needs.
- Work collaboratively with families, schools, and other community resources to support clients’ mental health and emotional development.
- Maintain thorough documentation of client progress and therapeutic interventions.
- Become familiar s with EPSDT billing processes and complete accurate billing documentation daily.
- Utilize trauma-informed and culturally responsive practices in all aspects of client care.
- Participate in monthly utilization reviews with other clinicians to ensure compliance and appropriateness of care.
- Master’s degree in social work/psychology/counseling (required)
- Registered with California BBS: ASW, AMFT, APCC, OR full licensed
- Bilingual Spanish/English required
- Flexible schedule with ability to work some evenings and weekends
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Own vehicle, Valid California driver’s license and insurability with Contra Costa Youth Service Bureau’s automobile policy
- TB test clearance, fingerprinting clearance, and any other state/federal licensing or certification requirements
- Previous experience with EPSDT billing or willingness to learn quickly
- Experience working with youth in out-of-home care
- Strong organizational and writing skills

The Early and Periodic Screening Diagnosis and Treatment (EPSDT) Wraparound Care Coordinator will work under the Wraparound Practice Model of Care, a framework grounded in individualized, strength-based, trauma-informed, community-based, and culturally responsive values. This role provides intensive and personalized care coordination for children and adolescents referred by Child Welfare, Juvenile Probation, Schools and other Community Based Agencies. Service Delivery and Coordination
- Provide intensive, individualized care coordination for children, adolescents, and their families following the Wraparound Practice Model.
- Responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining individualized treatment plans that address the unique needs, strengths, and goals of each child and family. This includes empowering families to advocate for themselves while ensuring they receive the necessary services and support to achieve their objectives. The process emphasizes the family’s voice and choice, respecting their culture, values, and preferences. Continuously track service implementation and assess progress, making adjustments to the plan as needed to respond to evolving circumstances or needs. Deliver trauma-informed and culturally intelligent services to youth referred through Child Welfare, Juvenile Probation, Schools and other Community Based Agencies.
- Facilitate collaborative planning processes and Child and Family Team (CFT) meetings to develop and implement tailored care plans based on strengths, needs, and goals.
- Ensure a sustainable network of unpaid supports (e.g., extended family, mentors, teachers, coaches) are actively working together toward the stability and well-being of youth and their families.
Community-Based Services
- Provide services in community-based settings, including families’ homes, foster homes, schools, and other community locations.
- Actively engage families and youth in the Wraparound process to ensure their voices and preferences guide service planning and implementation.
- Support families in accessing community resources and navigating local systems to achieve stability and independence.
Documentation and Compliance
- Maintain accurate and timely Medi-Cal and EPSDT documentation for all services delivered.
- Keep thorough case notes and ensure compliance with agency and county policies.
- Document progress and outcomes for reporting and billing purposes.
Professional Development and Collaboration
- Collaborate with mental health providers, schools, and other community organizations to provide coordinated care.
- Attend interagency meetings, trainings, and community events to represent CCYSB and foster partnerships.
- Participate in regular supervision and training opportunities to enhance skills and stay informed on best practices.
Key Qualifications
- Education:
- BA in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Criminal Justice, or a related human services field is preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered.
- Experience:
- Three (3) years of experience working with families in community-based agencies or systems serving high-risk youth.
- Background or knowledge in mental health services is highly preferred, including an understanding of trauma-informed care, treatment planning, and mental health challenges affecting youth.
- Skills:
- Working knowledge of positive child/youth development and patience in understanding the impact of traumatic life situations.
- Ability to calmly and professionally de-escalate situations involving youth and/or parents.
- Proven ability to respond effectively in crisis situations.
- Exceptional multitasking skills with sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, and disability issues.
- Proven ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately and consistently.
- Other Requirements:
- Reliable transportation, a valid California Driver’s License, and current automobile insurance.
- Flexibility to travel within Contra Costa County for meetings, home visits, and community events.

Position Overview
The Contra Costa Youth Service Bureau (CCYSB) is seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and qualified Licensed or Pre-Licensed Mental Health Therapist to join our EPSDT Wraparound Program. This individual will provide direct therapeutic services to consumers and their families, including individual, family, and group therapy, within a collaborative and supportive non-profit setting. The ideal candidate will possess or be eligible for a California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) license or intern number and will be committed to promoting the well-being of Medi-Cal consumers through trauma-informed and culturally responsive care.
- Therapeutic Services:
- Conduct comprehensive intakes and diagnostic assessments to evaluate the needs, strengths, and goals of consumers entering the Wraparound Program.
- Administer mental status exams to assess emotional, cognitive, and behavioral functioning, ensuring appropriate treatment planning and service delivery.
- Provide individual, family, and group therapy to consumers and their families, utilizing evidence-based and strength-based approaches tailored to meet their unique needs.
- Deliver trauma-informed care that recognizes and respects the cultural, social, and emotional backgrounds of consumers.
- Provide crisis management and de-escalation support to consumers and families during times of heightened emotional distress, ensuring safety and stabilization.
- Develop safety plans collaboratively with consumers and families to address immediate and long-term needs.
- Documentation and Compliance:
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in compliance with Medi-Cal billing requirements.
- Document all therapeutic activities, treatment plans, progress notes, and assessments in alignment with agency policies and Medi-Cal regulations.
- Be willing to participate in training to ensure proper documentation and compliance with Medi-Cal standards if not already experienced.
- Collaboration and Wraparound Support:
- Actively participate as a member of wraparound teams, collaborating with wraparound staff, case managers, and other service providers to ensure coordinated care for consumers and their families.
- Engage with team members to develop and implement individualized treatment plans that address the consumer’s needs, strengths, and goals.
- Provide consultation and support to wraparound staff to enhance therapeutic outcomes.
- Community Engagement:
- Build and maintain positive relationships with community partners, schools, and other stakeholders to enhance consumer support and access to resources.
- Attend and contribute to community meetings, trainings, and initiatives as needed.
- Leverage knowledge of Contra Costa County resources and systems to support consumers effectively.
- Professional Development:
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance clinical skills and stay updated on best practices in mental health and wraparound services.
- Stay informed of changes to Medi-Cal policies and requirements to ensure continued compliance and quality service delivery.
- Possess a valid California BBS license (e.g., LMFT, LCSW, LPCC) or intern number (e.g., AMFT, ASW, APCC).
- Master’s degree in social work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling, or a related field.
- Experience in providing therapeutic services to children, youth, and families in a community-based setting.
- Familiarity with Medi-Cal billing requirements and documentation standards is preferred, but training will be provided for the right candidate.
- Knowledge of wraparound principles and practices is a plus.
- Understanding of Contra Costa County resources, systems, and community services is highly desirable.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to cultural humility and the ability to work effectively with diverse and underserved populations.
- Must pass a criminal background check and provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
